The Certified Wound
Specialist® (CWS®) board certification
is a formal recognition of a master level
knowledge and specialty practice in wound
management.
The CWS® board certification is the
most prestigious and rigorous certification
in wound care and demonstrates a distinct
and specialized expertise in the practice.
The CWS® credential displays to patients,
employers and peers a dedication to the
highest standards and achievement in wound
care.

Who is Eligible?
- CWS® Diplomates are a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals, who are licensed and certified to practice in the following professions: MD, DO, DPM, PA, PT, RN, NP, OT, DMD, VMD.
- A licensed healthcare professional
with a Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral
degree in a life sciences related field
with three (3) or more years of clinical
wound care experience is eligible to take
the CWS® examination, administered
by the American Academy of Wound Management.

Applicants must possess three years of clinical experience in wound care, or have completed a fellowship of at least one year in duration that is certified by a credentialing organization and supply a letter of recommendation from the fellowship program director and a CWS® that was actively involved in the wound care training.
CWS® is a multidisciplinary
wound management certification, fully
accredited by the National Commission
for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which
is the accreditation body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). NCCA accredits certification programs
based on the highest quality standards
in professional certification.
AAWM is part of an elite group of organizations
whose programs have received and maintained
the prestigious NCCA accreditation.
